Santa
For 48 years he has either excited or terrified Auckland children. Some call him iconic, others say he is sleazy.

Santa started his life on the top of Farmers back in 1960, moving to Queen Street's Whitcoulls 10 years ago. Whitcoulls has been footing the $55,000 a year bill all that time, but they have had enough. Santa has been gifted back to the city, meaning ratepayers will now have to pay for him.

Close Up takes a closer look, and will have the results of the poll on whether Santa should stay or go tomorrow night.
