While New Zealanders usually find themselves heading across the Tasman for advanced medical help, when it comes to dyslexia it's different.
New Zealand's Dore programme doesn't force children with learning difficulties into hours of extra tuition - it attempts to improve the part of the brain that doesn't seem to be working as effectively as it should.
The programme is not operating in Australia, so those seeking help are continuing to fly to New Zealand for treatment. Close Up joined a family from Adelaide turning to New Zealand for help.
