Quake claims parts of Canterbury's history

Heritage has taken a huge hit with many Canterbury homesteads damaged or destroyed by the quake.

Some of the double brick and even triple brick homesteads have collapsed, taking precious history with them.

In the foothills near Saturday's earthquake epicentre, the century-old homes that fared best were those built with wood.
