Kiwis all love a battler, and a month ago Gareth Morgan launched a nationwide hunt for the best in the country.
He put the call out for nominations of people who go the extra mile, who overcome obstacles to achieve results, not for themselves but for their communities.
Nominations have flooded through. Now the list is narrowed down to 78 finalists up and down the country.
At stake is a $1,000 prize for the winner plus $10,000 for their chosen charity. That prize money is doubled in the national finals.
Close Up's Daniel Faitaua met two of those finalists - Andrew Walkin from Wellington and Graham Dellow from Timaru.
