Skatepark attacker speaks out

Video footage of Auckland artist Craig Platt charging into a young skater has gone viral

Close Up talks to Platt, Leighton Dyer, who was hit in the throat after remonstrating with Platt, pro skater Shay Ataria and William Murdoch, who organised yesterday's event.

Are NZ employers racist?

Yik Kun Heng says he would have more chance getting a job if his name was John, because New Zealand employers are racist.

Heng, earned a masters degree in political science, got more than 170 unsuccessful job applications to back his claim. Yik has been in New Zealand for 22 years, so it's not a language issue.

What he believes is holding him back is racism.

Professor of sociology Paul Spoonley from Massey University and Shawn Yam, who set up his own immigration consultancy having faced problems finding work himself, talk to Close Up.

The White or Wong? debate at The University of Auckland Business School this Wednesday tackles racism in the recruitment process and workplace. Head to www.futuredragonz.org.nz
