Michael's been with Close Up since 2006 after being dragged back screaming from almost six years as TVNZ's Australia Correspondent in Sydney.
He joined TVNZ as a producer on the Holmes show, after 10 years as a reporter on the New Zealand Herald.
Politicans and celebrities don't really grab him, but give him some ordinary, everyday New Zealanders with a tale to tell and he's a happy reporter.
He's not sure what it says about him, but he struggles to find anything else interesting to say about himself - except perhaps, that he originally hails from Pleasant Point in South Canterbury.
