Volunteers - when you think of that word, what doesn't usually spring to mind is teenage boys.

Then again, you haven't met Max.

Max Stroomer may just be one out of the box.

Every Sunday night when many of his mates are enjoying themselves kicking back, Max can be found at North Shore Leisure's Takapuna pool coaching North Harbour's Special Olympics swim team.

And it doesn't end there as Matt Chisholm discovers - Max even made a YouTube clip to raise money so his special mates could make the national champs in Palmerston North this week.
