Matt joined the Close Up team in March 2008 after completing a post-graduate diploma in journalism at Massey University in Wellington where he won the Alex Veysey memorial prize for having a zest for life and journalism.

 Prior to becoming a journalist Matt worked in banking, sales, and the sport and recreation sector before spending three years travelling throughout Asia, Europe and North America.

 He loves the diversity of the job and finding a "yarn" in anyone and everyone.

 Personally, Matt enjoys the great outdoors, sport, travelling and having a bloody good laugh.
