Maori Language Week finishes this Sunday and it's got us thinking - how many non-Maori in this country can speak our native tongue?
While about 23% of Maori can have a conversation in Te Reo, just 1% of the rest of us can speak our native language. Jamie Greenslade is one of those few. The Pakeha man not only speaks Maori fluently but as hip hop artist Maitreya, he also sings in Maori.
And Matt Chisholm discovers he has successfully taken it to the
world.
