Dame Judi Dench is a national treasure in her homeland but hers was a face we almost never knew because she was told she had the wrong face for the screen.
And so it would be three decades of theatre and television before anyone considered her for a movie role.
Now it's hard to imagine the British film industry without her. She's just added to her impressive resume with a role in the all singing and dancing extravanganza, Nine.
