Colleen Dick - Source: Close Up
Leaky home stories are rarely the stuff of happy endings, but for Colleen Dicks the long years of uncertainty are nearly at an end.
The West Auckland grandmother was forced to leave her rotting home three years ago and has been staying with family every since. Even a landmark court victory didn't put things right, with legal costs and expert fees eating up the $250,000 settlement.
But thanks to help from the Home Owners and Buyers Association of New Zealand she has finally been able to begin rebuilding.
John Gray founded the group to give advice to leaky-home owners. He's been championing Colleen's cause and rallying community and business support.
Earlier this year the bulldozers moved in to clear the site and a complete rebuild was able to begin.
Palladium Homes are managing the project and thanks to their generosity and contributions from many other businesses the site is making steady progress.
Close Up will be following the progress of the rebuild. Just before Christmas we checked in for an update - and we will be there to see Colleen move into her new home in the New Year.
