Alan Crafar has had a bit of hard time lately.

He was once the head of the largest dairy operation in New Zealand. Now the receivers are involved and there is $200 million of debt.

Add to that the dirty dairying prosecutions and further animal welfare complaints revealed on Close Up last month.

That investigation prompted MAF to launch its own investigation which found problems on a third of his 22 farms.
