Close Up speak to the parents fighting the health system over the care of their dangerously anorexic daughter.

It's a case of a doctor's informed medical decision versus a girl's parents who believe they know best.

The girl is 18-year old Sam Barber, and she's dangerously ill with anorexia. Doctors believe a clinic in Dunedin is the best place for her, but her parents fear it could make her worse. But because Sam is 18, her parents don't have a say, and under the Mental Health Act Sam can't make decisions of her own.

Close Up spoke to the former Mental Health Commissioner, now a consultant in mental health, Mary O'Hagan.
