On Monday night Close Up had the story of Dorothy from near Bulls who says Telecom isn't living up to its obligation to give her a decent phone line, despite getting their customer champion on the case.
Dorothy's story has provoked a huge response with emails, faxes and calls coming in thick and fast with many other stories of people living in smaller communities having huge problems with their landlines.
Telecom says they have meet their obligations as per the Commerce Commission but Communication Minister Steven Joyce, who talks to Mark Sainsbury on the show, says he is setting up an inquiry into the matter.
