Dog versus human - it is a nasty event that is not common, but certainly not unheard of.
There have recently been some horrific cases of people, children, being mauled or even killed by an attacking dog.
In most cases the dog is quickly put down if the owner agrees to it. If they don't, a lengthy court process can ensue.
If a dog attacks a human should it instantly be put down?
At the moment dog control officers have the power to seize the dog and impound it.
