The dangers of the Tongariro Crossing

Every day in summer, hundreds of people take to New Zealand's most popular one-day walk, the Tongariro Alpine Crossing in the North Island's Central Plateau.

Most of them are tourists and our high altitude alpine environment is very different to the lowlands of England or the Amsterdam pavements many have left behind.

As reporter Matt Chisholm discovered, a potential disaster is just a simple change in the weather away.
