Crimestoppers launches in NZ

It's not to be underestimated that a little piece of information passed on to police can make a major break-through in a case.

We know the importance of it now more than ever as investigators desperately look for new leads in the search for Aisling Symes.

Anonymous tip-offs have helped police in Britain solve more than 90,000 crimes in the last 21 years. Information is passed through a confidential and independent charity called Crimestoppers.

Now the system has been launched here.

Lord Ashcroft came to most New Zealanders' attention when he stumped up with a massive reward to encourage the return of Waiouru's stolen war medals.

Mark Sainsbury spoke to him about Crimestoppers, his latest reason for visiting New Zealand.
