This was always going to be a disturbing day.

The inevitable moment that Clayton Weatherston would have to describe to the court what happened the day he killed Sophie Elliott.

His testimony has been extraordinary from the moment he took the stand.

More often than not a murder accused will exercise their right not to give evidence. Not so in this case, as the defence attempts to make the case that Weatherston was provoked into committing manslaughter, not murder.
