Just when you thought it was all over there has been another twist in the David Bain case.

The Supreme Court and the Court of Appeal has released evidence suppressed during the trial. One part was the audio recording of David Bain's 111 call in which a prosecution witness claimed he could hear David Bain saying "I shot the prick". It went all the way to the Supreme Court, which ruled the material unreliable and irrelevant, as no one could agree if the words were actually on the tape.

The other evidence never heard by the jury was claims David Bain talked to friends about being able to carry out a sex crime and use his paper round as an alibi. The Court of Appeal ruled any value the untested claims might have were outweighed by the prejudicial effect of the nature of the evidence.

David Bain's lawyers strenuously opposed the court releasing this evidence, however the court took the opposite view. So where does this leave the Bain camp? The man who has fought for David Bain for 13 years, Joe Karam, is on Close Up.
