We do know of one dog who has found a happy ending and that's Bert, the fat dog Close Up followed as he shed the pounds.
Last week we showed him at the SPCA where he had been for weeks, feeling miserable, waiting for an owner.
The response was amazing - over 50 people called in and some as far away as Invercargill offered to fly him down. He didn't go quite that far, in fact he's ended up just South of Auckland.
But, as Gill Higgins saw, he's very happy now he has a home of his own.
