A 'want' button is rumoured to be in the pipelines for Facebook, to supplement the existing 'like' button.
According to CNBC , the 'want' button could push the site more toward becoming a place for buying things rather than just a social connection.
While rumours have swirled for months about Facebook introducing more buttons, Facebook developer Tom Waddington said he has found the most compelling evidence so far.
Waddington claimed to have found the tag <fb:wants> in the social network's code, which suggests the site is prepping a new plugin.
Inside Facebook , a website which tracks the developments of the site, reported "the button is not publicly listed among the other social plugins on Facebook's developer site. Waddington says the button will only work on Open Graph objects marked as 'products.'"
But a Facebook spokeswoman poured cold water on the rumour, telling The Huffington Post "we're always testing new Platform features, however we have nothing new to announce."
Analysts say this "desire-based data" would help Facebook's
effort to become a major advertising partner for big firms.
