Toyota New Zealand is reassuring both its Prius and Lexus hybrid customers they needn't be concerned about the cars' braking performance.
It follows new reports from the US which say Toyota is investigating whether its new Lexus hybrid has potential braking problems because of a software glitch.
It comes on top of problems with the acceleration and braking controls in other Toyotas, including the Prius hybrid.
The company is already writing to all 260 New Zealand owners of 2009 Prius models, to assure them it has complete confidence in the cars' brakes.
Spokesman Paul Carroll says they also have no concerns about the Lexus hybrid model.
He says Toyota New Zealand has received no directive from Toyota in Japan on the reported issue with the Lexus.
