Cracking a bottle of your favourite brew at the end of a hard day is going to get more expensive, as the cost of beer is set to rise.
One of the country's big brewing companies Lion Nathan, says prices will be going up 3.5% at the end of the month.
Corporate affairs director Neil Hinton says the price rise is being driven by an increase in glass and aluminum prices and they can't hold their prices anymore.
He says he is a little concerned because the beer market shrunk 5.5% last year, and he is not sure if the environment has recovered enough that this won't impact them.
Hinton says only time will tell but they are worried about
prices increasing throughout the year because of excise increase in
July and GST rises on the horizon.
