Moves to attract more overseas investment are being welcomed by the business sector.

John Key has announced a review of the rules around foreign investment.

It is part of the drive to cut red tape, and make it easier for businesses to get started and grow.

Auckland Chamber of Commerce chief Michael Barnett says if New Zealand is going to attract more international investment, the economy needs to be open and accessible.

He says overseas investors with money have a choice of places they can go, and we don't need rules which are going to drive them somewhere else.

Details of the review will be announced next week.
