Statistics New Zealand has released some retail sales data for the month of October early because of a problem with Wednesday's electronic card transaction data.
The electronic card transaction figures for November included data that could be used to derive totals for the retail trade survey for October, Statistics New Zealand said.
Data was loaded that should not have been loaded into the report.
To ensure equal access to information Statistics New Zealand has released some figures from the retail trade survey for October, which were to be published on December 14.
Total actual retail sales by value were $5.467 billion in October. This is down 0.2% from October 2008. The seasonally adjusted figure is $5.474 billion, which is unchanged from September.
Core retail sales of $4.127 billion rose 2.1% from October 2008. The seasonally adjusted corer retail figure for October is $4.128 billion, down 0.5% from September.
