A major job site has seen a jump in New Year visits over a year ago, figures for January show.
The seek.co.nz site saw a 6% increase in traffic this year compared with the same time in 2011.
Seek New Zealand's general manager Janet Faulding said: "The New Year is always a time of fresh movement in the workforce as people head back into the office.
"Not only has there been a significant increase in visits to Seek, but the latest job market update reveals that 76% of the New Zealand workforce is keeping an eye out for new career opportunities."
According to Faulding, more jobs may also be on offer.
"Employers often return from the holiday period looking to hire new staff and we are certainly finding this to be true with more than 16,000 jobs currently advertised."
The top five fast moving jobs were in the hospitality sector, call centres, gardening and landscaping, printing and publishing services, and legal.
The total number of visits in January was a record for the site at around 2.7 million.
