The Employers' and Manufacturers' Association is launching a new online business-to-business trading post which it hopes will cut costs and improve efficiency.
The website acts as a platform for EMA members to post their website, products, services and catalogue online to be viewed by potential buyers.
It also gives buyers a track and trace record.
"For buyers it is absolutely free and it gives them a complete auditable trail of all their purchases...this provides a great procurement system," says EMA CEO Alasdair Thompson.
Thompson says there is a monthly service charge for sellers of around $30 a month, but there is no charge to get set up on the website.
"To set up a website on which you can trade and place orders costs an awful lot of money. We're doing all of this for them for free," says Thompson.
Thompson says the EMA does not make any money from the service and it is being set up to benefit its members and the business community seeking products and services.
"It will increase efficiency for buyers and sellers: that's improved productivity, and your 'shop' is open all the time," he says.
The new site
www.e-market.net.nz is being
launched on Wednesday.
