Mobil Oil is expanding its fuel oil storage capacity at Mt Maunganui to meet the growing demand for marine fuels at the Port of Tauranga.

Mobil will refurbish an eight million litre tank to help keep up with the increasing number of cargo vessels and cruise ships at the port.

The project also includes modifications to the terminal's existing boiler facility and upgrading of the control room and operating systems.

The Mount Maunganui Terminal supplies petrol and diesel products to commercial, industrial and retail customers across the central North Island, as well as marine fuel oil bunkers for the Port of Tauranga.
