South Island customers have been experiencing more problems with Telecom's XT network.
XT customers in the South couldn't make calls from their phone early on Thursday morning.
The problems started at 2am and were fixed at around 3.45am.
The media was first alerted by St Patricks day revellers who couldn't call a taxi.
Telecom spokesman Mark Watts says they have done a lot of work on that part of the network over the last month to spread capacity and consequently they were able to contain the issue.
He says they were doing work on the network at the time.
