Outdoor clothing and equipment company Kathmandu is reporting strong sales growth in its first six months as a listed retailer.
The company, which listed on the NZX and ASX last year, has reported a net profit after tax of $4.4 million for the six months to December 31st 2009.
That profit is nearly $7 million ahead of what was forecast in its prospectus.
Kathmandu says sales were up 27% to $106.6 million and it is confident that it will meet its full year profit target of $30.9 million.
The outdoor company says the retail environment is generally improving although uncertainty does still exsist.
The net profit figure does not include the costs from the intial share listing.
