Google will join forces with the owners of the sunglass brand Ray-Ban to develop its Glass eyewhere in the US.
The internet giant is calling the deal with eyewear giant Luxottica its "biggest step yet into the emerging smart eyewear market".
Luxottica also owns Oakley, Alain Mikli and Vogue-Eyewear.
The announcement comes after Google last week tried to dispel accusations that the internet-linked eyewear invades privacy and will distract wearers.
Google has already entered into a partnership with US vision insurer VSP to make prescription Glass.
The new technology will be available to the general public later this year.
