Senior architects from New Zealand and Japan can now become registered architects in each other's countries under a new fast track registration arrangement.
The access arrangement has been negotiated under the APEC Architect Framework and means senior Japanese architects who have been awarded the APEC Architect title in Japan can be registered in New Zealand by a much simpler and quicker procedure.
An equivalent fast-track procedure will apply for New Zealand APEC Architects wishing to become registered architects (1st-class Kenchikushi) in Japan.
New Zealand Registered Architects Board chairman Ron Pynenburg said the agreement helped the brightest and the best of New Zealand's architects to contribute globally and then to bring back to New Zealand their international experiences.
