Economist paints gloomy picture

A senior economist doubts there is a quick fix to the recession despite Reserve Bank Governor Alan Bollard saying the recession has technically ended.

Ganesh Nana from BERL says whether it's technically over is an academic matter.

He says the world economy is in serious strife and it should not be underplayed. Nana says anyone underplaying the situation is either selling a line or is very, very optimistic.
