Dozens of jobs cut as food manufacturer closes shop

At least 55 jobs will be lost in Wellington, as a local food manufacturer closes after more than 60 years in business.

Goulds Fine Foods in Petone has stopped operation, and the business is appointing a receiver following tough economic times.

The Engineering Printing and Manufacturing Union says workers are shocked and upset by the news, some have worked there for up to 40 years.

The union says its members are all covered by redundancy agreements.
