Coca-Cola is buying Fonterra milkpowder to mix with fruit juice, whey and coconut in a drink for Chinese consumers sold as Minute Maid Pulpy Super Milky drink.
It has rolled out the product in Beijing, Guangdong and Zhejiang provinces, and plans to launch it in 300 cities across China by the end of the year, the foodbizdaily.com website reported.
The milk is the basis of the new mixture, which was designed at the beverage maker's innovation technology centre in Shanghai.
Doug Jackson, president of Coca-Cola Greater China, said the launch of the product was a "key milestone" for Minute Maid.
