Workers laid-off from clothing company Lane Walker Rudkin have been given some financial and moral support in the capital.
A cake stall raised money for the nearly 200 people made redundant.
It was held outside a Westpac bank because union leaders say the bank allowed the company to build up significant debt.
"As I understand they've been ploughing money into the business so far but without any question about how well it's being run and what state it's in. And if that's the case that's just negligent," says Andrew Little National Secretary of the EPMU.
But Westpac says it acted quickly when it realised the situation and had no option but to place the company in receivership.
