The Budget is being dismissed as lies and deception by the Labour Party.

Leader Phil Goff says the Budget fails to deliver on the promises and personal guarantees made by John Key on the election campaign.

He says it's a dishonest Budget that says one thing and does another.

"The 2009 Budget fails to provide an effective plan to address the growing number of jobs lost and the increasing numbers of New Zealanders worried about losing their livelihoods and their homes."

Goff says the tax cuts promised by Key are gone and the changes made to the Super Fund are nothing like were signalled. He says the public only expected a two year suspension on contributions to the fund, instead automatic contributions to the fund will be suspended until at least 2020-2021.

Goff says National has broken the cross-party accord on superannuation and is selling short future generations.
