Budget 2010 will directly affect everyone, with GST expected to
go up and taxes expected to come down. TVNZ business editor, Corin
Dann, hosts live coverage of Budget 2010 for TV ONE and tells
viewers exactly how their finances will be affected by the
changes.
Corin Dann presents NZI Business on weekday mornings on TV ONE and
believes, "it's going to be a lean budget with little new money for
the government to throw around."
Just how much new money will be detailed by finance minister Bill
English in his budget speech, broadcast live on TV ONE from 2pm on
May 20, followed by expert analysis and live market updates
throughout the afternoon.
Dann believes, "some sectors are going to miss out on new money
altogether which means that while there will be budget winners as
usual, there are going to be plenty more losers this time."
The focus of Budget 2010 is expected to be primarily around
property and tax but Dann expects analysts to be scrutinising the
government's books too. "We'll be taking a look at Bill English's
efforts to try to improve the health of the crown accounts - can he
bring the government back into surplus sooner than was forecast
last year? Has he managed to reduce government borrowing? How will
markets react given their increased concerns about sovereign debt
this year?"
All these questions will be answered, plus coverage of the budget
changes that will affect viewers personal finances in Budget 2010 -
ONE News Special on Thursday May 20.
