The budget has allocated $290m in funding for broadband implementation over the next year.
In line with election promises, the government has committed up to $1.5b for the rollout of ultra fast connections for businesses, schools, hospitals and 75% of homes over the next 10 years.
An additional $48m will be spent on infrastructure for rural broadband, with details to be announced.
Of the $290m to be spent over the next year $200m will go towards infrastructure investment. Schools will receive $34m.
The Crown Fibre Investment Company will receive $6m of the $8 allocated for operational spending.
Last year's Labour government budget announced the establishment
of the Broadband Investment Fund, which provided $500m over five
years.

I think the same as "UP2DATE I think it's about the best National could have done. Nobody including Labour predicted just how bad things would get so overall I'm pretty happy with it

I had been a Labour supporter up until the last election but the "nanny state" thing had me change. I'm so glad. How disappointing is Phil Goff as leader of the Labour party? Mr Negative without any real alternative...
