We rode into Queenstown triumphant from such a great show in Gore, and found ourselves quickly realising this town was going to have much different challenges.

In fact, the first thing Kim and I did on arrival was head straight to the Kathmandu shop to stock up on thermals, gloves and beanies... Queenstown certainly was COLD!!

After checking out the location for the next morning, it was an early night for all of us. The warmth of the hotel was a welcome comfort... three days in and the long hours are taking their toll. But up at four the next morning, and my sleep had done wonders... I was totally ready for weather from Queenstown!

We had some great local supporters in Queenstown, despite the morning temperature being only three degrees. Beautiful scenery for all of our crosses this morning too, you really can't beat being surrounded by rugged mountains alongside a crystal clear lake.

We had some great wee stories out of Queenstown too- the LANDSAR volunteers came down and had a McCafe breakfast, a charity auctioneer bought down his signed copy of Barak Obama's autobiography, and the local Golden Oldies netball team came and flash their bums!! (Yes, bums. Watch it back if you don't believe me).

The hot coffees and hot chocolates were definitely in demand in Queenstown, and definitely well deserved by those who braved the cold.

On another note, I'm started to realise the qualms of campervan drivers on the open road. The McCafe Winnebago certainly isn't the fastest thing you've ever driven in, but it does the job. So why all the fuss about winnebago drivers! They're doing the best they can. I've decided next time I'm stuck behind a campervan, I'm going to delay my frustration for at least another ten minutes.

Next stop... Dunedin. Student City. Lets see how many studying students we can get out of bed and down to the Railway Station to join us in the morning!!
