The drive from Queenstown to Dunedin was our longest yet& three-and-a-half-hours. But luckily for us we were guided by our trusty friend Annabelle - the NavMan GPS system, set to French.

I think Annabelle will stay a close friend for the rest of the trip.

Arriving in Dunedin we went straight down to the Railway Station to check out our location for the next morning. I can see why the architect earned the name Gingerbread George - the entire thing looks completely edible.

We figured we'd play it a lot more by ear for the final day of the first week, with Dunedin being "Student City" we thought it would be cool to get them involved somehow, but decided to figure out exactly how in the morning.

Dunedin was pleasantly warmer than Queenstown, so a few layers were shed for the mornings crosses. The McCafe Winnebago Cruiser was parked up, hot coffees were beginning to be served, we even had the local radio station come down to be part of it all. And the Dunedinites turned up in droves!

One of my favourites crosses of the morning was the Student Cross& and we asked flats of students to come down - even though it was coming up to exam time and lots of them were studying - and that the flat who could bring the most flatmates down would win.

We had at least thirty students arrive, some who had had their flatmates force them out of bed, and it was awesome. So much fun to have them around, and it was cool to be able to give out some free McCafe vouchers to students who, in my mind, will definitely appreciate it.

So now it's the end of the first week of the Great Coffey Road trip. The weekend off is much needed, but can't wait to do it all again next week. Check out the TVNZ website for our locations , and make sure you come and join us!
