By Tamati Coffey in Akaroa
Source: Breakfast
I'm now back in the great convoy of cars, departing the gorgeous Akaroa, after an incredible breakfast with Lou and Anthony at the Akaroa Cooking School.
What a morning it was. We met heaps of Akaroa locals who all came on down to grab a McCafe coffee and have a yarn with us.
I got to sample the award-winning Olive Oil and Barry's Bay cheese selection very early in the piece, which went down an absolute treat.
Then later on I was able to chat with Suki, Akaroa's historian who gives tours around the town, and also Steve the Town Crier who got completely kitted out and even brought down his French Flag.
We even got chatting to Franc and Delphine, both have relocated from France to Akaroa, and they even got to read out the weather forecast for me. To be honest I don't know what they were saying, or if it was even the weather, but it sounded fantastic either way!
The absolute highlight was Murphy, the Dolphin Cruises dog. The little guy can see and hear dolphins, and alerts all the people on board where to look. He had his own little lifejacket with a handle on top, I'm guessing to quickly pull him out of the water. Brilliant idea. You should check out the footage on the website.
That's all from me, now off to Rangiora to meet the locals of North Canterbury.
Til next time!
Tamati
