The town that's so nice they named it twice - Kerikeri.
We rocked into Kerikeri late on Wednesday night (as we had been diving at the Poor Knights Island during the day) so we didn't get much of a chance to rouse up the town and draw a big crowd. But this morning, everybody seemed to know that we were in town. It was awesome.
We met a few of the characters in Kerikeri. Maryanne, despite
awaiting a kidney operation, was the first person down there.
We also met Amy from Rocksalt Café who told us about the
awning drama that happened on Sunday when they were setting up the
Christmas display. We met William who was on the way to the
podiatrist on his mobility scooter, but he still fit us in to play
the Keri Orange Peeling Competition anyway.
There were heaps of other locals as well - longest line for the Winnebago yet. The milk was all gone by about 7:30am certainly a new record!
Tomorrow, last travelling stop on the Great Coffey Road Trip, Ahipara. We just passed through Kaeo where Alison my producer bought a duck for our secret santa's that the crew are doing tomorrow. Looking forward to it.
Ahipara, here we come!
