Beyond the Darklands
The fourth series of the gritty and revealing documentary series, Beyond The Darklands promises to deliver a wider perspective on violent crime. The psychology of the people who perpetrate it, why they do so, and what we need to be aware of in order to protect ourselves, and our loved ones - as well as providing insight into the early warning signs which could prevent someone getting to this point. Can we recognise the signs of early offenders, but how we can effectively manage and treat them once they have been recognised, if in fact we can treat them at all?
Presented by Forensic Psychologist, Nigel Latta, the new series examines the cases of six of New Zealand's worst and well-known offenders, and considers how they came to commit their crime. Has the life they've lead bought them down the wrong path and tipped them over the edge? What is it that makes a man a murderer?
The new series includes the cases of George Baker who murdered Liam Ashley in the back of a prison van; Liam Reid who murdered a deaf woman named Emma Agnew and Gavin Hawthorne a recidivist drink driver who is responsible for the deaths of four people.
