Winitana leads Christchurch into NBL semi-finals

Paora Winitana rose to the occasion to steer Christchurch into the National Basketball League semi-finals on Wednesday night.

Winitana was simply irresistible as he contributed 38 points to enable Christchurch to use home court advantage to see off North Harbour 106-98.

The match went to overtime after the combatants were locked together at 87-87 at the end of regulation time, and Christchurch prevailed down the stretch.

Winitana was particularly impressive from the free throw line, nailing all 18 of his attempts and he also landed eight-from-19 field goal bids and four-of-10 three-pointers for good measure.

Christchurch will meet Waikato in a semi-final in Hamilton on Friday night.
