Breakers star American import Gary Wilkinson has been fined $500 by the Australian National Basketball League (ANBL) tribunal but has escaped a ban for his involvement in a brawl that broke out in the Breakers' semi-final win over the Perth Wildcats.

Wilkinson was charged with 'unduly rough play' along with Perth player Kevin Lisch. Perth's Andre Brown was also charged for striking for his slap to the face of Mika Vukona.

Lisch was fined $750 and Brown $1000 while neither player has been suspended.

The news wil have come as music to the ears of the Breakers after Wilkinson scored a game-high 20 points in the deciding semi-final.

"He's very important to the success of this team he's been a real solid force for us all year," veteran Breaker Dillon Boucher told ONE News.

The Wildcats were also fined an automatic $1000 for their failure to attend the post-match media conference following the loss.

The Breakers begin the best-of-three grand final series against the Cairns Taipans at the North Shore Events Centre on Wednesday night.
