Shaquille O'Neal has tagged David Beckham "scared" after the footballer refused a penalty shoot-out challenge for his new reality TV show.

Shaq challenged Beckham to appear on his show in which he challenges professional athletes at their own games.

"Dear David Beckham. I know you have heard about my Shaq Vs show, anyway you will never score a goal on me. I challenge you, lil' man," he said via Twitter.

"Dear david beckham, dnt make me tweet to 2 million people that yur scared of shaq, u betta respnd, if u scared get a dog."

But after having his offer turned down, Shaq called Becks out in his online blog.

"Official, today is David Beckham is scared of Shaq day, he should be scared, he can never score a goal on me."

Shaq, who recently teamed up with LeBron James at the Cleveland Cavaliers, has been taken up on challenges by other high profile athletes.

The show will see him take on NFL quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, swimmer Michael Phelps, tennis star Serena Williams and boxer Oscar de la Hoya among others.

He has also challenged Lance Armstrong to what will be an epic bike race.

"These athletes may be on top of their game, but I am up for the challenge," Shaq said.

"I plan to train hard and win, so look out."

Just for the sake of it, check out one of Shaq's finer moments in the video below when he challenges LeBron James and Dwight Howard to a dance off at the NBA's All Star game.

Shaq begins his 2009/10 NBA campaign when the season begins in October.
