ANBL grand finalists Chris Anstey and Ebi Ere of the Melbourne Tigers and Mark Worthington of the South Dragons have all been named in the All-NBL First Team for the 2008/09 season.
Anstey, Ere, and Worthington, who all competed in the thrilling 2009 NBL Grand Final series won in five games by the South Dragons, are joined on the All-NBL First Team by New Zealand guard and recently crowned league Most Valuable Player Kirk Penney as well as his Breakers' team-mate CJ Bruton.
League MVP Penney took the highest number of votes with 81 followed by Anstey with 73 and Bruton with 71 votes. Tigers star Ere totalled 70 votes and Worthington finished with 65.
This year's voting makes four consecutive selections to the All-NBL First Team for Tigers' big man Anstey and his fifth selection overall. It is the second time being named for Worthington, Ere, Penney and Bruton.
Corey 'Homicide' Williams of the Townsville Crocodiles just missed making the First Team by one vote. Williams finished with 64 votes and was joined on the All-NBL Second Team by Adelaide 36ers team-mates Luke Schenscher (58) and Adam Ballinger (53). Shawn Redhage of the Perth Wildcats finished with 47 votes and Wollongong Hawks' swingman Glen Saville tallied 36 to round off the All-NBL Second Team.
