The Orlando Magic gave coach Stan Van Gundy a contract extension that will keep him with the team through the 2012-13 season, the Magic said.

Van Gundy, who has a 282-149 record as a head coach during the regular season, led the Southeast Division champion Magic to the Eastern Conference finals last season where they lost to the Boston Celtics in six games.

They advanced to the NBA Finals the previous year but lost to the Los Angeles Lakers in five games.

Orlando also promoted Alex Martins to team president and Otis Smith to president of basketball operations, the team said on its website (nba.com/magic).

"As a team, both from a basketball and business standpoint, they have us moving in a very positive direction and toward our ultimate goal of winning an NBA championship," Magic CEO Bob Vander Weide said in a statement.
