New Zealander Sean Marks will miss the remainder of the National Basketball Association season for the New Orleans Hornets after undergoing surgery on his right shoulder.

Marks' surgery was pronounced a success and he will begin rehabilitation immediately with an eye on next season, the Hornets' website reported.

Niggles have reduced Marks' season to his fourth quietest in 10 years in the NBA. He played just 75 minutes in 14 games, compared to his career-high 60 games last season.

This year's output was just 10 points and 23 rebounds.

The 34-year-old has now completed two-season stints with five different NBA teams -- Toronto, Miami, San Antonio, Phoenix and New Orleans.

The injury- depleted Hornets have 13 games remaining and trail Portland by seven games for the eighth spot in the Western Conference standings, leaving them with little hope of repeating their 2008/09 foray into the post-season.
